Our package hunts include one or more free range animals that may be taken with no additional charge. Most packages allow the opportunity to add additional game.
Listed below are the animals that may be taken at GBL and the fees due, in addition to the hunting package cost. State seasons and related regulations apply to all hunting at GBL. If an animal is not allowed in the list below or is marked with an ownership tag/brand/band, it may not be taken. If taken intentionally or by mistake, the carcass will belong to GBL.

A buck in velvet may be taken, but an additional fee of $200 is added to the buck fee to discourage it. This is a game management decision intended to allow more older bucks to breed.
Currently not allowing harvest. This is a game management decision. If a young male antlerless Axis deer is mistaken for a doe, the cost is $200 in addition to the cost of a doe ($400).
Exotic game that may be hunted all year; hunting license required. Blackbuck Antelope are rarely seen at GBL.

Exotic game animal available all year; hunting license required. Free range Elk are not commonly seen in this part of the Hill Country, but a sustainable population may be developing.
Applies to any antlered Elk taken. Only one harvest of a Bull Elk from GBL Ranch will be allowed until further notice. This is a game management decision.
Currently not allowing harvest. This is a game management decision. If an antlerless bull Elk is taken, the cost is $2,000 in addition to the cost of a cow ($3,000).

Wild goats may be hunted all year; hunting license required. Both male and female goats have horns.

An animal designated by the State as a nongame species has no closed season- it may be hunted all year; hunting license required.
Once a common food source, cottontails still make a good stew.
The iconic coyote is making a comeback in the county. Area ranchers support coyote control to reduce predation on livestock.
A favorite food source for the coyote, these rabbits, if properly prepared, are also suitable for the hunter's table.
State licensing, season, and tagging requirements apply. It is against the law to hunt roosting turkeys by any means at any time. If turkeys are disturbed while on the roost, going up to roost, or coming down from their roost, they often leave that site.
Exotic game that may be hunted all year. A valid State hunting license is requested by GBL Ranch, because we offer hunting that is not limited to only Russian Boars/Feral Hogs.
Any size, either sex. Each hunter limited to 4 per visit without prior approval of the Ranch Manager.
Wild sheep may be hunted all year; hunting license required. Once common at GBL, free-roaming hybrid exotic sheep have not been seen for awhile. May be taken if encountered.
Exotic game available all year; hunting license required. Sika at GBL display varying characteristics from 4 sub-species found in the US- Japanese, Formosan, Manchurian and Dybowski.

No second White-Tailed doe will be available as an Add-on until further notice; this is a game management decision. If a young male antlerless White-Tailed deer is mistaken for a doe, the cost is $200 in addition to the cost of a doe ($300)
Hunting of an animal is not allowed at GBL Ranch, unless it is identified above. Exceptions, if made, will be written and applicable to a specific hunt.
