All of our hunting packages include hog hunting and allow hunting of other free range  animals, like axis deer,  that may be taken with an additional charge.

Listed below are the animals that may be taken at GBL and the fees that are due, in addition to the hunting package cost.  State seasons and related regulations apply to all hunting at GBL.  If an animal is not allowed in the list below or is marked with an ownership tag/brand/band, it may not be taken.

If an animal not on the Add-on list is taken, intentionally or by mistake, the harvested animal will belong to GBL.

Currently not allowing harvest.  This is a game management decision. If a young male antlerless Axis deer is mistaken for a doe, the cost is $200 in addition to the cost of a doe ($400).

Blackbuck Antelope

Exotic free range animals that may be hunted all year; hunting license required. Blackbuck Antelope are rarely seen at GBL.

Buck

Goats with horns 10" or shorter

Nongame Animals

An animal designated by the State as a nongame species has no closed season- it may be hunted all year; hunting license required.

Cottontail Rabbit

$30

Once a common food source, cottontails still make a good stew.

Coyote

$100

The iconic coyote is making a comeback in the county.  Area ranchers support coyote control to reduce predation on livestock.

Jackrabbit

$30

A favorite food source for the coyote, these rabbits, if properly prepared, are also suitable for the hunter's table.

Rio Grande Turkey

State licensing, season, and tagging requirements apply. It is against the law to hunt roosting turkeys by any means at any time. If turkeys are disturbed while on the roost, going up to roost, or coming down from their roost, they often leave that site.
